Following on from the hugely successful launch in 2017, shops and businesses at Braehead Shopping Centre will once again be supporting Autism Hour in 2020. This hour will be hosted on the first Tuesday of every month, from 10-11am.
Upcoming Quiet Hours
In support of The National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour, we host regular quiet hours on the first Tuesday of the month from 10-11am all year round.
Our shops take simple steps where possible to create a more autism-friendly experience, such as turning down music and dimming bright lights.
Reducing the noise of in-store music and tannoy announcements:
Overwhelming noise is a common barrier to autistic people accessing shops. Where possible, in-store announcements and other controllable noise will be reduced.
Wherever possible, while maintaining safe premises, lights should be dimmed or switched off.
Information will be provided to our staff to make your experience at Braehead a positive one. We will receive information about autism in advance with employees so they know what to expect from customers’ behavior and how they might be able to help.
